Government Spends Over Rs 1.58 Trillion in FY 2081/82, Revenue Collection Up 14%
Government Spending Reaches 81.87% of Annual Target

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has spent a total of Rs 1.5823 trillion in the fiscal year 2081/82, marking an increase compared to the previous year. According to data presented by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, this figure represents 81.87% of the annual expenditure target.
Breakdown of spending:
-Current Expenditure: Rs 980.38 billion (85.95%)
-Capital Expenditure: Rs 222.68 billion (63.2%)
-Financial Management: Rs 320.4 billion (87.87%)
-Compared to last year, current expenditure grew by 2.94%, while capital expenditure saw a significant 16.15% rise.
Revenue collection reached Rs 1.178 trillion (83.06% of the target), which is 14.41% higher than the previous year. Tax revenue grew by 13.25%, and non-tax revenue surged by 28.8%.
On foreign trade, total imports were Rs 1.8412 trillion, while exports stood at Rs 277.3 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of Rs 1.5279 trillion. Despite the deficit, exports saw a remarkable 81.8% increase, while imports rose by 13.3% year-on-year.
